Sterile Processing Supervisor – Overnight Shift
Due to expansion of the leadership team, we have an opportunity for an experienced sterile processing professional to join our team as the Sterile Processing Supervisor on the night shift (11:00 pm-7:30 am). The Sterile Processing Supervisor oversees and participates in the daily shift production and work flow in the sterile processing department within Surgical Services. This includes:
-
incorporating the STEEP principles to coordinate all aspects of the production schedule
-
participating in the development, implementation and administration of policies and procedures to ensure efficient operations and coordinates and maintains all sterilization records
-
assisting in setting standards of quality for the preparation, sterilization, storage and distribution of surgical instruments and equipment
-
reviewing and evaluating the flow of work throughout the department and identifying areas to improve overall efficiencies
-
working with the Operating Room staff and the Sterile Processing staff to facilitate necessary revision to sets and recipes
-
assisting in the development of procedures for new sets and new equipment
-
performing routine quality audits of instrument sets and equipment under the direction of the sterile processing manager
-
The Sterile Processing Supervisor is also responsible for interviewing and training qualified staff, coordinating staff assignments, handling performance management issues and employee complaints/concerns and ensuring appropriate communication with staff.

Job Description:
Regions Hospital has an opportunity to join our Surgical Services Leadership team as the Manager of Sterile Processing. Under the direction of the Director of Surgical Services, the Manager of Sterile Processing implements the strategic direction for and provides operational and clinical oversight to the Sterile Processing Department. This position leads the daily operations to include decontamination, sterile processing, assembly, inventory control, case cart management, OR care, staff training, distribution and quality control. Ensures the department meets the sterile instrument needs of the hospital, Same Day Surgery Center and other clinics and departments within the hospital.
The Manager of Sterile Processing will work closely with the Surgical Services Quality/Compliance Program Manager to anticipate and effectively deliver sterile processing services throughout the organization. The Manager is responsible for conducting quality assessments to ensure a quality product and ensures compliance with government regulatory agency standards and ensures all AMMI standards, Join Commission, Health Department, OSHA requirements are met within the department.
The Manager of Sterile Processing will manage a diverse staff of 28 FTE's (33 employees) and is responsible for coordinating hiring, onboarding and training, performance management and corrective action all while remaining fair and consistent. This position will also have a dyad partnership with Same Day Surgery Center leadership team for the sterile processing department.
Regions Hospital is a private, nonprofit teaching hospital providing healthcare services in St. Paul and is one of only three hospitals in Minnesota that is verified as a Level I Trauma Center for both adults and children. Regions Hospital has 21 operating rooms with over 20,000 surgical cases performed annually with surgical specialties including: General Surgery, Orthopedics, Cardiovascular, Vascular, Neurospine, ENT, Plastics, Urology, GYN and Foot & Ankle. Our Sterile Processing department is equipped with Steris instrument and cart washers, V Pro Sterilizers, Steris steam sterilizers, EOT, Medivator and Sonics.
In addition to technical knowledge, successful candidates must have the ability to build team continuity and unity internally and throughout Surgical Services, have the ability to build and foster effective relationships within the department and across the organization and be skilled in effective people and department management.
Position is eligible for a $7,500 sign on bonus!
Required Qualifications:

Associate’s degree in healthcare related field or business

Three (3) years’ sterile processing leadership experience AND
-
Five (5) years’ sterile processing experience (NOTE: Experience can be concurrent)

IAHCSMM certification as a Central Service Technician

Looking for a Sterile Processing Technician at Minnesota Valley Surgery Center, in Burnsville MN. Full time position Monday through Friday, no weekends, or holidays. Competitive wages with full benefits and a chance of profit sharing.
This position is responsible for cleaning, packaging, sterilizing and stores the supplies, instruments, and equipment.
Minimum Qualifications

Demonstrated understanding of sterilization principles required

Experience in central processing functions preferred

Essential Functions

Adheres to the sterilization process policies and procedures

Cleans each item according to manufacturers' instruction

Inspects instruments under microscope for damage and defects; lubricates items as required

Determines that each item is in good working condition

Sorts and arranges items into proper trays according to established policy and procedure

Wraps trays and individual items according to established policy and procedure

Accurately labels each item with name and expiration date

Correctly operates sterilizers, ultrasonic washer and other equipment for processing items

Positions items correctly in sterilizer and selects proper cycle; seeks assistance when needed

Checks indicators for proper functioning

Performs required biological monitoring tests on all sterilizers according to established policy and procedures

Maintains availability of supplies for continuity or recording throughout sterilization process

Cleans sterilizers according to established policies and procedures

Maintains inventory levels and accurate records

Performs weekly inspections of all sterile items in the facility

Checks for outdated items and package integrity of wrapped sterilized items; replaces items as necessary

Places items in correct location

Maintains adequate inventory of supplies for the sterile processing area

Maintains and updates the instrument ray inventory list

Maintains current information regarding routine preference cards

Accurately document count of items sent to and returned by laundry

Operating Room Sterile Processing Technician
Summary: Clean and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment. Maintain inventory as directed by the Operating Room Manager.
Description: The OR Team is why our patients travel tens and hundreds of miles to see us. The OR Sterilizing team are there to ensure Mercy Ships can provide safe surgeries in clean spaces with sterile tools.
The Operating Room Sterile Processing Technician volunteer position, part of the Sterile Processing team in the OR Department, will be located on the Africa Mercy and Global Mercy, the world's largest non-governmental hospital ships. The preferred minimum commitment for this role is six weeks. We recommend all interested applicants to submit an application at least six months in advance of your target service date. Commitments longer than twelve months require successful completion of Mercy Ships On Boarding Program.
Qualifications required:

Current active Central Sterilizer Technician License (or international equivalent) in home country desired, but not mandatory

Minimum two years of experience within a central sterilizing department, hospital-based or day surgical center

Previous experience with sterile supplies and knowledge of universal precautions required

Scrub Technicians and Nurses are eligible to work in the sterilizing department if a minimum of two years experience is met

Oral and written fluency in English
